Brandon's Kub Kar Rally

Near the end of January, Brandon was handed his Kub Kar kit and given instructions from Akela that he was to do all (or most) of the work himself. So after the deciding on a design, he was ready to begin. Jeff cut out the shape and then he gave Brandon some sandpaper and set him to work. Brandon sanded and sanded and sanded. (Mom and Dad kept making him sand to their standards, not Brandon's.) Then when we felt it was ready to paint, Brandon got out my craft paints and painted away. I'm sorry to say that neither Jeff or I was impressed with his job- we both felt that he could have done better. We also felt that he rushed through it in his excitement to just get it done. [ I didn't want Brandon to regret his job years later.] Anyway, the next week, Jeff saw Jordan's car at the center and felt that Brandon should see it. Jeff took Brandon down to the center and after seeing the car, felt like he wanted to make his better so Jeff set him up to sand off all the paint that he had put on. (Jeff left Brandon at the center SANDING for approximately 2 hours, while he did some snow removal.) They also reshaped the car to make it a little different from last years design, which also resulted in more sanding. Then a new paint job was applied and the end the result was a shiny, awesome looking race car. I was very impressed! They added a little weight to the undercarriage and lubed up the wheels and Brandon was ready to race.
Races in Raymond are done by wards and our ward had races on Friday afternoon, February 15 at 2:00pm. I was a little disappointed in the lack of structure that the cub leaders had but the boys had fun letting their vehicles race down the track. (The lack of structure helped so that nobody felt that their car was better than another.) Everyone was smiling and having a good time. Each of the boys were given a certificate for their car's achievement. Brandon was awarded the certificate for the shinest car! He was proud of his car and the work that it took him to make his kub kar. Way to go Brandon!!!!!!

It's about time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CASSANDRA

Cassandra had her birthday yesterday. She turned 4. She was so excited for her birthday. Her gifts included a paint set from the HARDY BOYS cousins (thanks) and a new pair of white princess gloves. She also got a new coloring book, a Little Bear magnet set from Grandma Moxley, a purple birthstone bear and the highlight of all gifts--- a pink MP3 player. It is just like Brandon & Devin's except that it has more capacity which has really made Brandon mad! Yep, she's four! She loves to listen to the music that we added to it this morning. Cassandra loved her cake. I made a princess cake for her. The hardest part of decorating it was making sure that I didn't ice the hair.

A princess cake for a princess!

So excited to see the cake!

The 4 year old birthday girl!

We were going to have cousins over to celebrate with us, but after noticing sores on Maren's mouth, we decided that Maren had come down with some form of Impetego (spread from cousins last week) and that she might be contagious. Cara opted out of having her family celebrate with us. Sorry guys! We saw the doctor this afternoon and he says that she doesn't have Impetego. --- Too many sores INSIDE her mouth. He doesn't believe that she is contagious but did give her a cream to help the mouth sores around her lips heal faster.
